Your painter will have a preference in what he likes and is used to working with. I would go with what he recommends. The outcome would be better if you didn't make him use something he didn't like. Is it an automotive paint shop? Since the tractor will be red it would be more durable if automotive paint is used. The color red is the most prone to fade and automotive paint will be more colorfast. On oil based paints some brands, mainly Valspar you would almost see it fading daily. If an oil based enamel is used I would recommend Rustoleum Farm and Implement paint. I painted a kubota tractor 14 years ago with it and it's just now beginning show fading. I painted the tractor first with Valspar and it faded in a month what the Rustoleum has done in 14 years.
