We just got new power poles with 34kv lines along our farm as a secondary source to a nearby town. Creosote 50+ footers and only buried 8' feet deep backfilled with AB3 gravel. Ground wire on the top. Some were green like they were treated with copper.
Go figure. I got the old poles for projects.
My problem with the metal poles is that they are supported by a bunch of bolts at the bottom. If they are worried about the base rusting out, then so can the bolts. That will be worse for filling up with crud blowing in there and no one to keep them clean regularly. Wait till the local vandals go out there with their hacksaws.
