Have been seeing a lot of loaded cattle trailers headed south and empty cattle trailers headed north. Yes the annual migration of yankee stocker calves to the southern backgrounding fields is underway in full force. The calves will not have to spend energy fighting the bitter cold and will be able to graze green grass all winter long. While we have problems keeping cows threw the summer that do not have big ears; We sure can pack the pounds on stockers threw the winter and spring months.
I assume you guys up north use corn silage to over winter stocker calves.
