The pistons HAVE to go back in correct bore, then sounds like the squash plate is not working to control positions of the pistons. Been over 30 years since I was in school learning about them and never had to have my 129 tranny apart . But exterior linkage can be bad so as not to do the control to the squash plate that makes forward,netrual and reverse.
