Used 4 foot drywall square to confirm axle aren't bent . Both sides measured 5 inches. At a right angle and using spider gear as reference both measurements are the same.
Now we can look at this for a positive stand point. What caused the damage if the tubes aren't bent?
Previous owner was a DIY rental.
Rearend has always made a strange sound when I backed up.
I found very little broken material inside, which means previous owner removed cover and removed the broken teeth .
May call All-tran transmission shop in town. I've done business with them in the past. It's the only place I trust.
The last thing I want to do is remove the axle and second time.
I'm still hurting from the remove. Getting too old for this kind of work.
My brain has a different opinion. It thinks I'm still young.
