I recently bought a 1955 Ford Model 640 Tractor. It had been setting at least a couple of years. The motor was stuck and when I finally did get it to turn over it had a couple of stuck valves and bent pushrods. The valves were probably what was sticking the motor and I probably bent the pushrods unsticking it. Rebuilt head and carburator, 2 new pushrods and other TLC, now the motor seems to run strong. Compression is not great (105 to 125 PSI) but it pulls the bush-hog with ease. The problem is the hydraulics. The oil it had when I bought the tractor had water in it and the problem was odvious. When I changed to new oil it got better (Ford 134D). When the oil is cold the hydraulics seem to be ok. It is 8 miles to where I use the bush-hog. By the time I get there it will hardly hold up the bush-hog, after mowing a couple of acres it will not hold up the bush-hog at all for the return trip. It seems to me to be oil temperature and viscosity related. Would you suspect Pump? Relief Valve? Just wore Out? How hard are these systems to get kits for? rebuild? If I take off the hydraulic system cover that the seat is attached to for an inspection am I opening a can of worms I cannot get back together without parts of seals? Any advice appreciated. Thank You James

From the engine number, it was found that the major was produced late 19
