What About the Hydraulics after the loader Removal?

Looking back at the previous post on loader removal, what should you do about the hydraulic pump system? Should you have quick disconnects to connect the pump supply to the return line back to the tank to cycle the fluid, or should you leave the pump "dead ended" (pumping against a closed disconnected pressure line)? If you do the quick disconnect to connect the pump pressure line to the return to tank line, will this damage a return line filter if I install one? Thanks for some ideas. John
