I have used down pressure to drive steel posts. It is a 2 man operation becuase one has to walk along and stand the post up for the loader to come down on post. I have also put a chain on loader and rap chain around and round a post and taken them out but this is a 2 man operation as well to get a bunch of posts out in short time. I have also used loader for scaffling and shingled eve's of steep roofs off of them and delivered all material to roof with the loader as well. I have used manuer buckets with narrow teeth to pull small dead trees clear out of the ground enabeling me to pile them and leave no stumps. You just wedge trunk of tree between teeth and raise up and if it slips it will soon catch a limb and it will pull right out if root system is dead. Note I said small trees. There is no end to the use if you get handy with one. You just got to use your own judgement as for the safety becuase many jobs you will come up with may very well not be safe in regards to the manufacturer. The closest accident I had was one time I was pulling a post with a chain and had someone else running loader. After the steel post was pulled the operator lowered the loader. Before I could direct the post or move my foot the post came down right on top of my foot with loader on top of it. The operator just happened to see the loader on top of post and quit going down just in time. If he wouldn't have I suspect the post would of went right through my foot, shoe, and all. It all happened so fast and I am just lucky I wasn't hurt. Just remember safety first. I myself am sure I take to many chances with the above jobs so just remember to not overide the safety issue.

Today's Featured Article - New Life for an Old Allis - by Tyler Woods. My friend Jon, has an old '39 Allis Chalmers B. He thought it a marginal tractor that had long since served its time. She smoked terribly and never had much power but he couldn't afford another so he was limping along with what he had. Jon's Allis has a small front loader and though it doesn't carry much, it serves his needs. It was the hard starting and low power that made him think it was time to replace the old girl. Jon called me to help him discover why his tractor wouldn't start ... [Read Article]
