I would think that for a first coat, the low cost paint would be adequate, provided you already had it on hand. I would for sure make sure that the final coat(s) consisted of a Superior grade of paint. Whenever you are ready to put the decals on, your paint finish should be as good as you can get it. Make sure you use hardener too. I don't have any suggestions for an Oliver paint supplier, but get your IH Red paint from CIH and your John Deere paint from John Deere. Or use Dupont. Don't use BPS, from Tractor Supply either!
