Hi Ghost, Do you have a wiring diagram for your 784? The starting circuit is very simple on that model of tractor unless it has been modified over the years. Not to question your ability but I don't know your level of experience and I don't want you to be injured so for a test only to trouble shoot the starting problem.
You can cheat the clutch safety switch just by connecting the two wires together BUT for safety reasons just do this as a test. Make sure tractor transmission in in neutral and park brake ON or wheels blocked. Again to test the starter with tractor in Neutral, Park Brake ON and Clutch pedal tied down, on the starter solenoid large battery bolt use a large screw driver or battery jumper cable to jump to the large bolt on the solenoid that connects to the starter and the starter should spin. If you jump the solenoid battery terminal to the small start switch terminal on the solenoid, the solenoid should engage and starter spin and start cranking the engine and engine will start if the STOP/START/RUN lever is in START or RUN position. BECAREFULL make sure transmission in Neutral and Park Brake On and Wheels Blocked and tie the Clutch pedal down because if you are standing beside the starter jumper it and tractor starts in gear, you in severe danger.
