My grandfather had an ag degree and my dad has an ag education degree. So when I went to college, dad made sure I went into engineering. Things didn't turn out to bad for my dad though. He ended up getting his masters and specialist degrees in secondary education and educational administration. He retired as a school principal after about 35 yrs of working with the local school districts.
I also have a younger cousin that she just got her ad degree and is working with the local farm bureau helping farmers. She grew up on a dairy farm, that has since turned to beef cattle.
I would have liked to have taken ag classes, but dad was determined that I would not have to live off the farm. But I am now ans engineering manager, and I still get to have a few cows do some of the things I grew up doing. So it has all worked out for the best.
