: : I heard there is a way to make a 1 or 2 amp output voltage regulator for a ole 6 volt generator , have any of you know what im talking about ?? : I suppose you have an old system that used a high low switch to regulate charge rate : Go to Radio Shack and get power resistor 1/2 to 2 ohm place between gen and ground : adjust resistance to get desired charge rate Better yet find a 6 volt regulator for a similar tractor and wire it to your generator in place of the cut out. Then it will regulate voltage and the battery will take what current it needs and no more. The voltage needs to be set for 7.2 volts. You need 4 to 8 amps for battery ignition and then up to 20 or more for lights, so just 1 or 2 amps isn't enough to run the tractor, but if that's all that's on, that's more than enough to overcharge the battery and use up the water. Back in 1968, I built a one of transistor regulator for a 12 volt bug engine in a 6 volt bug. I probably couldn't find the circuit today, and I know I couldn't find the same parts. But it worked VERY well compared to the mechancial regulators of that era. Gerald
