In our area I've seen what they advertise as a "Dutch auction" where they set the price at the top of what would be the reasonable price range and at set time intervals the price is reduced by a set increment until a buyer takes the bid. You can run it for a day or a week or a month or whatever. You can have a floor price at which time the item is taken off the bid list or let it find its own bottom. You have to have an exit strategy for stuff that doesn't sell. I've even seen dealers do this for used inventory reduction. Never talked to one to find out their satisfaction level. Just a thought.
