Seem to remember a documentary about that a while back. Seems like they decided squirrels find about half of what they bury. We used to pick up black walnuts in the back yard, and throw a couple bushels in the back woods, "for the squirrels." We got a bunch of black walnut trees growing back there now.. Several years, I would take a pocket full of nuts out when I went hunting. Squirrels were very industrious about finding, hiding them.
