: My girlfriends father passed away this past May , and as a tribute to him his wife had his ford G.J. restored . But I am left to take care of the maint. I don't mind in fact I kinda like the ol girl myself (the tractor , not my girlfriends mother ) : So to start off right does any one have any advice(type of oil, maint. schedule ,and anything that might help keep it in good running cond.) ? What a deal, my mother-in-law never had such a dowry for my child bride. You need to mary the girl friend before some tractor guy comes along and leaves wit the girl and tractor. Seriously(I can be that) there are a lot of variables that go into maintenance. How dusty and how hot the conditions are dictate the oil change schedule. If in doubt change the oil and filter, the hydraulic fluid, the antifreeze and grease all fittings. Then start a schedule of your own. Get a manual and follow up with a maintenance schedule. Good luck.
