Do you have the implements or are you going to have to buy them?

What dealer support do you have close? That can be very important.

3 pt implements are readily available and not brand specific.

Eagle hitch, Quick Hitch, Snap Coupler, 2PT implements are not.

Pull behind implements are normally usable across brands and

may be available, depends on your area.

Farmall parts are readily available as are Ford and JD.

I had trouble recently finding parts for a couple of Cases.

Green and yellow paint can sometimes double the price.

I had a very low serial numbered '39 H that I pretty much gave away.

Wasn't good for much other than raking hay. Worthless in snow.

My JD 50 will pull 2-14's in my soil here on a trailer plow.

It also has Independent PTO, better in my opinion than Live.

Although most of the tractors made in that era didn't have it.

Farmers are smart fellows, they can get the job done without it.

The JD does not have 3 pt hitch, although it was an option.

My 8N will pull 2-14's on a 3pt plow but it will not pull the

trailer plow. Not enough tire and not enough lead in the butt.

Plenty of power, it simply looses traction without the 3pt pull.

They were designed to plow with a 3pt plow and they are

plowing fools when set up correctly! Will out-plow my JD.

AC's are gutsy tractors, all kinds of power, tough to find original

implements here and 3pt conversions can be pricey for them.

I've pulled a JD 2-14 trailer plow behind a WD with no problem.

An Oliver Super 55 would also fit your bill if you could find

one in that price range. I haven't been able to find one here

for that kind of money that didn't need a complete overhaul.

If you get up mid-Michigan way I'll let you try some of them out.

I've got Fords, Farmall's, JD, etc. Just sold the last AC I had.

Today's Featured Article - Harvestin Hay: The Early Years (Part 2) - by Pat Browning. The summer of 1950 was the start of a new era in farming for our family. I was thirteen, and Kathy (my oldest sister) was seven. At this age, I believed tractor farming was the only way, hot stuff -- and given a chance I probably would have used the tractor, Dad's first, a 1936 Model "A" John Deere, to go bring in the cows! And I think Dad was ready for some automation too. And so it was that we acquired a good, used J. I. Case, wire tie hay baler. In addition to a person to drive th ... [Read Article]
