Had a set of Michelins awhile back. They ran something like 75-80,000 miles but were the hardest riding tires I ever drove on. Tires can be made of hard rubber compounds or soft rubber compounds. Michelin LTX were hard rubber tires. Coopers are soft rubber tire and gave twice as good a ride but less miles wear. Running Goodyear 18's now and looks like they will easy go 75,000 miles and ride is good also. . Up here in the Midwest a softer rubber compound will grip the road better in cold winters and ride better. That may not be a concern down South.
