Our sweet old kitty died last week. We think she was just over 9 years old (middle aged for a cat) She stopped eating and drinking, we took her to the vet and blood work. The test indicated she was in liver failure and the vet thought we might be able to turn things around with fluids and a feeding tube. She appeared to rally for a few days, but the liver failure returned. We took her back to the Dr and arranged to have an ultrasound done. That revealed a mass in the liver/pancreas area suggestive of cancer. The doc said that there was no way forward that didn't involve suffering. She left this world while I held her in my arms rocking her in a rocking chair. Hope that when my time comes I can go that gently and peacefully. We loved her like a child..
