One wire has to go to a power source when the switch is on. Look in that area behind the dash for a power wire, it may be "T'd" with another wire. Are the wires push-on or ring terminals? Doesn't matter, just curious. I did some work on a 1967 4020 a while back so I am just going from memory. It may be "T'd" with the wire going to the cigarette lighter. I have found both in the service manual and in practice the ground for the sender is critical. I have already run a separate ground back from the fuel sender flange to the ground at the gauge. Paul
