Yes, being able to see makes a HUGE difference in the quality of welds.
One of those "well of COURSE" moments when you finally realize it.
For me - I'm on the edge of needing bifocals... ok, so I'm a little over that edge now...
I'm near sighted, and need to take my glasses off to see up close.
I've always done that for everything - except welding.
FINALLY I tried taking my glasses off while welding too and my ability to see improved 100x's over.
Hard to explain - but it's a more drastic difference than outside the helmet. Like your eyes focus differently, on a different plane with the helmet on, and you just don't see anything.
But take my glasses off and I can see sharp as a tack through the helmet.
Outside the helmet, if I leave my glasses on for close up work, it's more like a strain than not being able to see.
