The only thing to check on a D-17 Series 1, would be to check out 3rd gear, put it in 3 hi or lo, pull the heaviest trailer type load you can find, and crest the top of a hill, going down the hill like you would normally drive. When the load starts pushing you, does the transmission shift itself into neutral? Otherwise, on that tractor, it uses a high pressure 3500 PSI, about 4 GPM pump. This is too much for some newer cylinders, you might have to buy cylinders to match the output. Oh, and check the bolts in the bottom of the tranny that hold the hitch on. they work loose, occasionally...
