Well I am heavily invested in land. I do have money in several 401Ks also. The 401K are doing fine. I do not even listen to the stock market. Your 401K investment is for the long term. So unless you happen to retire at a low you will do fine over time. There is no sure way to make your money work for you.
I pulled all my non 401K money out of the stock market in 2004. It was kind of planned but just luck as to the timing. I bought land. I was told I was crazy for paying what I did for the land but ground next door will only sell once in the years I have left.
This land is earning me about 6-7% on my original investment. That is just on annual return without considering the cash value raise. Then if I where to sell it today it would bring 2 1/2 times what I gave for it. That is not normal for the length of time I have owned it but you can bet that land will always have value when compared to the rest of the economy.
The traditional value of land is a months wages for an acre of ground. That has been a pretty close average for centuries. So the high current value is unusual in several ways.
It is mainly being driven by the government devaluing the dollar while they saying we have no inflation. There are so many problems with this counties economy that it will not continue like it is.
