I would say you're one of the lucky ones. I've read that some states are not going for the "keep a non-compliant plan for a year" BS but I believe TN is a state that is. So, the answer to your question seems obvious: keep your plan until you get on Medicare next June.
Even though I get insurance through my wife's employer, things will get worse when the employer mandate kicks in (2015 which is not that far away) and the craziness extends to company policies. There'll be a whole new round of surprises and unintended consequences.
The bottom line is that there is no free lunch. Middle class working people will pay the largest portion of the tab for these newly insured, either by paying more for insurance or through their tax dollars in the form of subsidies.
