: I just purchased a Ford 8N. After starting it 2 or 3 times the battery cable going to the positive terminal disconnted. I noticed that that the cable was very hot. In fact, when I tried to start it again, the connection at the positive terminal got so hot it glowed. I haven't been able to start it since. Any ideas? Thanks >>>Sounds to me like a poor/loose connection right at the battery. Clean up the posts, pry the clamps open a little, clean them & reinstall. If the cable terminal does not clamp down firmly on the battery post, replace the cable. Disconnect the ground cable first, service the cable running to the switch, then service the ground cable. This sequence will prevent arcing/ battery explosion. GOOD LUCK!!
