Son and I went to our neighbors horse ranch and got 13 one ton truck loads for compost, to mix in next years garden soil.Had 8 truck loads last year. Works great when mixed with shredded leaves. Believe it or not very few weeds. We put on what ever fertilizer left over in the mix.10-10-10 and urea, plus some 46-0-0. We spent 8 hours loading and hauling, dumping the manure then stacking with the Bobcat.Included cleanup time also, washing the equipment off. 706 IH did a real good job, as did the 1 ton and the Bobcat. Son has been working his buns off trying to catch up after losing Chino Blue, thinking about taking some of your advice looking for another friend, house is lonesome as we are too. We had Chino laid to rest on our hill,in his own hand built coffin, even a hand carved plaque with his name and other information. Tomorrow we are going to a breeder of short haired German Shepherds, just for some advice,he's been doing this for over 43 years,so he should know alot of things about caring for and keeping them healthy.
Son has been clearing out some of our poor trees, Popple, basswood and clumps of maples, keeping the oaks, and strong maples for shade and privacy.Helps get some light and air circulation back around the area. Should be chipping and shredding limbs and leaves with our chipper shredder that I can do by setting in a chair (damn Neuropathy and age anyway).
This years wood is ordered and should be on it's way, so we can get that cut, split, hauled up, and stacked before leaves fall. Winter is on it's way, brrrrrrr. Sorry for a long post. Sure hope you all did not get flooded out, or dried up by no rain. Have to keep watering the garden in the mean time, as not enough rain so far here.At least some things are doing better in the garden, if the deer, groundhog would keep out of it.lol. Electric fence doesn't seem to hinder them any, I may have to do like Old does, sit on the porch with the 44 mag,and wait, have some meat with fresh potatoes.lol. It used to be venison with new potatoes, now it's just new potatoes.lol.

Today's Featured Article - New Life for an Old Allis - by Tyler Woods. My friend Jon, has an old '39 Allis Chalmers B. He thought it a marginal tractor that had long since served its time. She smoked terribly and never had much power but he couldn't afford another so he was limping along with what he had. Jon's Allis has a small front loader and though it doesn't carry much, it serves his needs. It was the hard starting and low power that made him think it was time to replace the old girl. Jon called me to help him discover why his tractor wouldn't start
