The elevator is at most 6 miles from the fields. I refuse to drive a grain truck loaded with wheat faster than 35-40 miles an hour on an old two lane blacktop. You can't hug the edge in most spots because the blacktop will cave out. That's not even with 700 bushels on the big truck - that's with 225 on the little one.
I have had some folks pull some crazy stunts in the last week. Yes, my beasts are liable to slow down on the hills, but I am not sure it is a good idea to pass on the crest. My favorite was the guy in a dually that crested the hill half on my side. When he saw me he swerved over taking out all of the trash cans for the three houses at the top of the hill. Never stopped.
