I carried a Barlow for a long time when I was a kid. I probably still have it somewhere.
I started carrying Swiss Army knives in college. The one I liked the best I carried for more than 30 years. Unfortunately I forgot about having it in my pocket when I was going to fly on an airplane and had to "donate" it to TSA. GRRR! I would have paid $25 to have been able to mail the knife home, but the TSA agents wouldn"t take me up on my offer...not too happy with them.
I had a hard time finding a similar Swiss Army knife, small, but with a can opener that looks like a claw, but I finally found one a couple of years later. It was made by Wenger. I found that I really missed the claw-like can opener, which I probably use oftener than the main blade, for various duties. I had bought a Victonix knife, but it did not have the claw, and I found it to be less useful.
I bet Swiss Army knives have served as my pocket knife 90% of the last 40 years. I also sometimes also carry an original Leatherman tool, when I think I might need pliers. I think the Swiss Army knives hold an edge better than the Leatherman knife blade.
I just about always am carrying a Swiss Army knife. Just not to airports anymore! I really mourned losing the knife I had carried for so very long. Good luck!
