i used to really enjoy rabbit hunting with beagles. kind of a thing of the past around here now though. I had an old one when i was a kid,and we would hunt every morning. she couldnt stand it when i went to school so she would either dig out or climb the fence and go hunting by herself.she would come in with her feet all swelled up cut and bleeding,i would patch her up and she would rest up for a day or two and take off again. never saw a dog as old as she was who loved to hunt as much. knew a old guy in mississippi years ago who used them for deer hunting, that was fun, but was some fast shooting when one came running past you in a swamp. On a good note ive seen more cottontails this year than i have in years. dont know wheather its a cyclic thing, but might be because theres more and more coyote hunters out. I dont know anyone around here that rabbit hunts any more. the last guy i saw with beagles we were down at the lake about 15 years ago and an old colored guy came through with four or five.
