I got that new compressor put on the tractor. Got it recharged, blowing good and cold. I put the old one on the bench and tore it apart to see what was going on. When I recharged it last week,I could hear it hissing in back where I couldn't see. I also noticed the bolts where it mounts to the bracket were loose. Well, they were So loose that the head of the bolt wore through the case of the compressor. It wore right in where the backing plate mates up to the case. I think the "rattling" I was hearing was the sound of air escaping when the piston right there was coming up. They all seem to be coming up alright, nothing is ruined on the inside,so there isn't any shavings or anything. I'm HOPING that's all there is to it and it's gonna keep working. Sure feels good in there right now.
