Reminds me though of a story that Walt Buescher told about Allis Chalmers when they first came out with the AllCrop pull type combine. They had a big field day, brought in the media and representatives from all the other major manufacturers. Had an AllCrop in a wheat field for the great unveiling of the machine that was going to revolutionize harvesting. They started it up and plugged it. Did a bunch of adjusting, still wouldn't work. Spent the whole afternoon trying to make it work....nothing. The big wigs finally took the assembled farm equipment industry elite back to the rail road depot, apologized all over the place to them and sent them back home thinking the whole "combine" project was a huge dud. Meanwhile, back in the field, the guy in charge told them to get that piece of junk out of the field and get the good one in here and let's get this wheat cut. All of those industry folks went home thinking the AllCrop didn't work and the engineering departments of all the other manufacturers slacked off. That little charade gave AC a better than 50% market share in pull type combines well up in to the 50s.
