Forum Password Assistance

Help, I Can't Post in the Forums!

Please review the following scenarios to see if any apply to your situation:
  • It is asking me for a password, but I don't know what it is! - Do you remember reserving a forum name? If so, send us a message using the contact form below. Otherwise, look below at the section on how to register your username.
  • I remember registering my handle, but I've forgotten my password! - Contact us using the link at the bottom of this page. Be sure and let us know what your email was at the time you reserved your password. This is the only way we can verify who owns which handle. We'll need that to retrieve your password or reset it. The majority of password problems are people attempting to use a handle that belongs to someone else.
  • Everything was working fine until I lost my cookies! - Security software on your pc will often delete cookies for seemingly no reason. When that happens, the password stored in your YT password cookie is lost. Usually if you remember your password, a new one will be created when you enter it. Sometimes, if you or someone who set up your pc, have set your security settings too high, the cookie cannot be recreated and you will not be able to post. Look at browser and security software settings such as cookie blocking or privacy options set to high.
  • Upper and lower case letters are different letters - For the handle, we make it so the case of the letters does not matter. For the password it does, farmallh and FarmallH are two completely different passwords. Make sure you enter the password in the same way you did originally. One of the biggest problems with the case of letters, is if you have caps lock on. If you type and the letters always are in uppercase (like HELLO instead of hello), press your caps lock key once. Typing with caps lock on will cause you problems on the net.
  • Was your password the same as the username? - If you originally put the same word for both handle and password, your username will not be usable as is. Spammers compromise passwords like this almost immediately. You will have to contact us to have it reset to something more secure.
  • I can't figure out how to register? - If you click on the Modern View Link, there is a link to register, or click here.
  • My photo won't finish uploading? - Your photo has to have a file size less than 300K or it will not upload. Cameras often generate massive photo files. There is free software available to trim that filesize to something more reasonable if you do not know how to tell your camera to do so automatically.
  • It says my username is too new to post photos - Spambots create forum usernames and post only a photo containing spam. New accounts are restricted from posting photos. Either post a bit and the restriction will go away automatically, or contact us and we remove the restriction.

If none of the above apply to you, use the link below to contact us. We would like for everyone to be able to participate in the forums. Important: If you contact us, we will need to know the email you originally used in the forums. That is the only way we can retrieve your password!

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract. ... [Read Article]
