IH 454 help needed please!!!

we were very excited about an IH 454 that we went and looked at and we made up our minds that we would buy it to replace our MF 35 and this international that we looked at has been stripped, repainted and the hydrolics hade been fixed BUT there is one problem is that we did some looking up on the tractor and one machanic said that they were difficult and expensive to fix (the total opposite of what the seller told us) and he said that there is a main pump or something that all the hydrolic things work off and he said if that broke it would cost R10000 to replace,so what is the chanse of it breaking?? thanks!
