Well if it is hard to push down it would not surprise me that it has a clutch pressure plate out of a 706 in it and as for grabby it probably has a buttom clutch and the flywheel was never ground when the clutch was installed . I installed a 706 clutch in a Super M/TA for a buddy after and engine build , OH MY GOD was it ever stiff ,but it does not slip been in there now going on thirty years and it has not gotten any easier to push down . Now as to your T/A problems it is nothing a new T/A will not fix.And you can at that time replace that clutch with a STOCK pressure plate and a woven disc. They push easier .
