What does the fluid look like? Farm I worked at in High School had an 806 LP gas tractor. The farm owner wasn't real big on preventative maintenance once it got cold you didn't use the 806 'cause it wouldn't steer or lift or stop, the common theory was their was water in the hydraulic fluid when it got cold the water became ice and fluid din't get pushed or pulled to make things work, didn't look that bad but I suspect maybe there was a layer of water on the bottom of the reservoir making life difficult when it got cold. Other problems I've encountered in other places is a marginal hydraulic system that can't handle the colder and thicker hydraulic fluid somewhere in the system it finds it's easier to suck air or bypass somewhere than to suck cold thick hydraulic fluid from the reservoir.
