On our magneto-fired H, the ammeter will show a discharge of 3-4 amps for a short (30 sec.) time and then charge at 3-4 amps for the same length of time, then not do either most of the time. Putting it on high charge or regular will not change it any. Running the lights will obviously make it discharge, but it won't "compensate" by charging right after shutting off the lights. This rig has a voltage regulator on it. I am of the opinion that it should not be discharging at all when the lights are off, being as it has a magneto and has no draw on the battery under normal operation. Any input on what is going on here or what I can do to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks, Lon M.
