* Two types of 3/8" x 24 connecting rod bolts are used. These bolts can be identified by appearance and each type has a different torque specification.
1. The PLACE bolts has a head that is either "notched" or concave. Also the shank and thread diameter is nearly the same. This type attains its tension by bending the bolt head It should be torqued to 50 ft. lbs.
2. The PITCH bolt has a standard bolt head with a washer face. The thread diameter is larger than the shank. This type of bolt attains its tension by stretching the shank. It should be torqued to 45 ft. lbs.
