The basic difference between the different sizes (414, 436, 466) is the stroke. They use different crankshafts and pistons. The main difference between the truck and tractors is they way they mount so they may have different front and rear plates, exhaust manifolds, oil pan and pickup tube, crankshaft pulley. There are also differences between different tractor engines as changes between turbocharged and naturally aspirated. Parts such as the amount of cooling jets for the pistons, water pumps, cylinder heads, pistons, rings, oil pumps, were all kind of mix and match depending where the engine was used. There were also changes made during the production runs of tractors as the engines were updated to newer designs. The result is that almost all the parts in the engines were changed from the original design to what is being made today.
As major changes were made to the engines the series number was advanced. In tractors the original designs would be the A series. The B and later series can be identified by the size stamp on the block by the serial number. The 466 B series is stamped DTT467, the C series DTT468. The same applies to the smaller engines.
