Which style self adjuster do you have , I think first 856 had same as 806, on that style the wear inside housing can make them adjust up too tight. I have ground off ends of adjusters to get more clearance on discs. (memory not 100% on that). Have to make sure the screw operates freely and spring on adjuster is ratcheting properly. Also the return springs have to be in good shape. On the tube type adjusters, each one has to be reset and spring checked to make sure it will move plate back after aplication. In any case, you no doubt have a lot of worn uneven surfaces on drum and plates, ideally you machine all parts and measure up to obtain correct clearances. Jack up wheel and it should turn freely after releasing the brake on these dry style brakes and have like .030 clearance between discs. .
