Lots of SMTA LP tractors that were shipped to another company to be switched to LP were equiped from IH with what was called 5000 or 8000 foot altitude pistons. D was 5000 and E was 8000. They were higher compression pistons for gasoline engines originaly for use at higher elevations to overcome some power loss. LP tractors run better with the higher compression. G means the tractor was equiped with a cotton picker at one time. Does the tractor set at normall height or have flanges with bolt holes at the outer ends of the rear axle housings? You probably have what some call a factory LP, some say no factory SMTA LP tractors. My opinion is no LP were built at Farmall outside of maybe a few trial ones. Respect other opinions that disagree though and know my opinion is not based 100 % on facts I can prove. So thats why I say opinion, it could be wrong.
