Two or three weeks ago I had rescued another M that was a day or two from being scrapped. Owner was selling it by the pound and didn't care if it was chopped or not so I paid 11 cents a pound for it. Complete tractor, motor stuck, sheet metal pretty good, completely bad rears, fronts hold air.
Finally got around to pulling the belt pulley assembly to look inside the transmission and WOW! Turned out to be the best looking set of gears I've seen on a plain M! No chipped teeth, no spline wear on the mainshaft, hardly noticeable wear. Just beginning to show a little surface rust here and there so I need to do some preventative pickling before I get to back around to it.
Rescued three others last year in various conditions. Sooner or later (probably later) I'll get around to posting some photos.
