What started out as a rusty fuel tank has turned into not being able to get the tractor running again.
In August I cleaned the tank and sealed it with Red Kote. Used the tractor to get in my rye and vetch and a couple of food plots. I was running poor, popping and I started monkeying with the carb and it just refused to run. I figured I had some rust of something in there and put a carb kit on it. That didn't work, so I started looking at the ignition and replaced the plugs, wires, coil, condenser, and points. I can get it to fire and it will run if I advance the timing, but now I have fuel pouring out the bottom of the carb if it doesn't fire and it's not a little bit either. It used to fire right up and idle along. I never had to the use the choke and now I'm choking it and running down the battery cranking on it. Speaking of, I ended up getting the starter rebuilt too. Anyway, those new Mahindra utility tractors are starting to look real good.
