Hi Matt: If you have more then 3 or 4 changes that don't agree with major casting date code, you have a tractor from used parts. C had straight foot pedals. SC had about 20 degree bent back at contact point on tranny top plate. (easyier for short legs to touch pedals) Radiator on SC was taller which required higher placement of gas tank over touch control so full length of top was same heigth. Most SC with taller radiator had water pumps. On C water pump was extra cost item so most did not have them. Difference in heigth of front grill was added right near hole for hand crank. (about 1 & half inch taller) Internal the SC had larger cylinder bore by 1/8 inch. 113 cu to 123 cu. IHC offered at least two type pistons. Low comp for early distalite fuel and normal and hi comp above 5,000 foot. (most had normal comp pistons. Many had M&W power pack pistons at 1st major overhaul during 1970's to late 1980s.. Decal on front of hood often does not match various used parts used.. Even with swapped parts, it can still be a good tractor if some reasonable care was used in taking care of it.. hope this info helps some. Don't get too picky if it runs good. Just enjoy using it. Production started about March 1948. I have the 584 C built and there is about 6 mo spread on casting date codes with some as early as Sept 1947.. but didn't get to asembly line untill late March 1948.. ag
