Tranny and gears are the same. Starter shouldn't affect anyting about the hood.
An original hood for your tractor that anybody would part with would be a RARE find.
I don't think the dimensions of the tin on the hood changed any between the early ones like yours that used the Dzus fasteners and all the later ones with the J-hooks.
If that is the case it shouldn't be hard to adapt the tin from a later hood that fits well. Just lose the J-hooks and put the proper holes, properly aligned, in it to allow the fasteners to be installed and do their jobs.
Your tractor chassis will already have the backside of the fastener in place.
I'm thinkin' the biggest challenge to noodle out will be where to drill the hood to get them to line up with what's on the chassis.
