Does the oil level test bung screw out of the oil pan or is it welded in. Not talking about the center part you unscrew to check the oil level but that whole piece behind it, hope I described it right. The tab broke off years and years ago and I pulled pan off and brazed the tab back on when I was a teenager but it broke again. I think I saw in a book that the whole bung can unscrew and a new one put in. Its just a pain cause I have to use a pair of vise grips to open it and check oil. One other question, on my 1940 it has a hook thing you pull and hold to kill the engine but my 1948 has a switch that you just pull out, is the pull core type a early model thing???
