Hi Ed, you have a couple of options to change the hydraulic suction filter. 1)Park tractor with rear wheels in a ditch with front end up and there should be only a small loss of oil. 2)With tractor on level you must have a bucket ready to catch the oil. Procedure to remove the suction filter: 1)Clean all the dirt from around suction tube 2)Spray some light oil on the suction tube on either side of the rubber joinning pipe 3)Loosen both clamps on the rubber joinning pipe 4)With a twisting motion work the rubber joinning pipe either forward or backward far enough to expose the split in the suction line. 4)Rotate the suction line that connects to the hydraulic reservoir until the offset clears the other end of the susction line, 5)If the tractor is on the level rotate the suction line over towards the fender so the oil can drain into a bucket. 6)After oil is finished draining, rotate suction pipe to left and right while pulling towards front of tractor. DO NOT LIFT UPWARDS on suction line or damage will occur to suction filter. Suction line with filter should come out of reservoir.
Besure to lube the "O" ring with hydraulic oil before re-installing suction filter.
