Gentlemen,
I just found an IH 504 for sale in my home town that I am considering checking out. I spotted it on Craigslist and the owner says all tires are good and it"s a diesel with a blown head gasket. The price is $750. There was no picture of it so for all I know it could be a complete rust bucket. Would this be worth looking into or could there more possible problems that it"s worth? I"ve never owned a diesel so I am completely clueless. I"ve gone through some of the older postings looking for info on this model and about the only negative I could see is possible head gasket problems. Can anyone give me some insight on what the problems are or what the fixes would be? What should I look for as far as the drive train is concerned? The price might be just right to fix it up for a show tractor/toy. Thanks in advance for any advice on this.
