You could do that, but you need to make sure none the metal chips get in there. You could then buy JIC tube fittings from flared tube to male pipe threads. They come in straight fittings or 45 & 90 degree elbows. Then have new hydraulic hoses with female swivel nuts made at your local hydraulic shop. Colliflower is a good place if you have one in your area. I made these JIC hoses from reuseable swivel nuts for my garden tractor. These hoses have a single braided hose. You may need double braided hoses if there's very high pressure on your tractor. Hal
