I have the governor off of a Super C. It seems that the gov is "sticking". The previous owner had wired a spring to the carb linkage to pull it back to idle position. When I took gov off and inspected (mind you I am not a gov expert) it seems the speed change stop had worn or corroded to the point that it let the gov rockshaft rotate back to the point it was catching on the backside of the pin. Secondly there seems to be quite a bit of side to side movement in the rockshaft shaft. How much play should it have side to side? And lastly what else do I need to look for as a possible issue? The gov spring seems to be good and have good tension. The gov bumper spring was rusted and fell apart while cleaning. Thanks for any input.
