The park lock will still work with some teeth broken off the reverse driven gear. The park lock pawl swings down and in to engage two teeth on the gear. The two teeth used are not next to each other on the gear so it would be unusual for the pawl to come down where was two broken teeth. If you get a clicking noise in reverse, and only in reverse, that gear is going to be the problem.
