CNKS steered you right as far as ID for the year on the front of your tractor. Those fasteners are called Dzus fasteners and are pretty common in aircraft applications. Maybe that's why IH went to J-hooks in their place as the US got seriously into WWII, dunno.
I can give a look at my parts book to see what other parts changed when they switched from Dzus's to J-hooks for the hood and bolts for the grille. The critical points would, I think, be the radiator support bracket and the front corners of the fuel tank, which is where they put metal and fashioned things for the J-hooks to hold the hood.
Are you thinkin' you might have to replace the hood or grille? I think OEM is selling the Dzus fasteners so there is a source if you're looking for them.
